Dear HU Community:

The academic year 2014-2015 has ended with events that have ensured that the university is on a path to fulfill its research goals as a community of faculty and student scholars.

Together, we continue striving to provide excellence in teaching, research, and service to our constituents and friends locally, nationally, and abroad.

During April, the first-ever Research Week showcased not only the research of faculty, students, and post docs, but it also provided an avenue to highlight the varied research initiatives across our campuses.

We offer congratulations to our Research Day winners (see for the names and categories). These individuals exemplify the groundbreaking research that is occurring across all disciplines at Howard under the tutelage and support of dedicated faculty mentorship.

Also, during Research Week, the newly completed Interdisciplinary Research Building on the corner of Georgia and W Streets, NW, opened with tours and research presentations.

Finally, the Graduate School launched the Mental Health is a Team Sport Campaign, which began a series of events that will focus on the latest digital tools that help to assess mental illness. In September, during Recovery Month, the campaign will include an anti stigma mental illness initiative; and in April 2016, a TEDxHowarduniversity mental health event will feature panels on mental health and wellness.

We offer congratulations to the 2015 doctoral and master's degree recipients and our best wishes for a bright and promising future.
